Lime Kiln Park - grafton, wI
Lime Kiln Park, in Grafton, is 28-acres of multi-use green space. Featured here are remnants of lime kilns that were in use beginning in the 1890's through the 1920's. A retired local historic iron trestle bridge also sits on-site. The park spans the scenic banks of the Milwaukee River. Sparkling in the afternoon sun, the river is a stunning sight. Local fisherman dot the banks of the river, or fly fish as the river runs. There is a bridge with an outcrop for fishing as well. There is a boat launch for canoes and kayaks here, too.
You can walk the paved path that traverses the park, or walk the grass along the banks of the river. This should be a great birdwatching spot come spring and summer. There is a 9-hole disc golf course that is popular here, as well as an archery range, horseshoe pits, and sand volleyball courts. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the park, including within an octagon covered picnic shelter. A children's play area sits near the Robert P. Zaun pavilion. The pavilion is rentable.
Parking is available in both upper and lower level lots.
