STUTE SPRINGS NATURE TRAIL - EAGLE, WI
Stute Springs was once the Stute family farm. Located in the Southern Kettle Moraine, the Stute's settled this 180-acre farm beginning in the 1850's. After a short walk in along the old farm lane, follow the trails past the remaining buildings, along the natural stream, and through the ancient , and very hilly, woods. From here you can view the stream as it weaves it way through the moraine.
If you're up for more hiking, take the trek up to "Big Hill" for a spectacular view of the farm and the surrounding area. The day we were there, we were treated to the sight of Pileated Woodpeckers flying high from tree to ancient tree. Some of the oaks here are as many as 300 years old. Fortunately, the hike down Big Hill was easier than the hike up. It was definitely worth the effort.
There is a small parking area at the entrance near County Road Z. Vehicles are not allowed to drive in to the area.
No amenities on-site.
State Park Sticker is required.
Location: County Road Z, Eagle, WI (Waukesha County)
